Reports To: Manager, Healthy Child Development
Overview:
The YMCA of Greater Vancouver is on the lookout for a dynamic, creative, and dependable individual to take on the role of Supervisor for our Before and After School Care Programs. This position involves direct reporting to the Manager of Healthy Child Development and entails providing leadership, direction, and continuous support to staff and volunteers engaged with children and families in licensed Before & After School Programs catering to children aged 5 to 12 years.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct leadership to multiple Before & After School Care Programs while fostering a cohesive team environment.
- Mentor, develop, and support staff and volunteer teams to ensure exceptional service delivery.
- Cultivate and sustain positive relationships with families and key stakeholders, including school administration, licensing officers, community agencies, and service providers.
- Guarantee the provision of high-quality programs and services that comply with Provincial Licensing Legislation and YMCA standards.
- Directly engage in activities for children aged 5 to 12, including the planning and execution of a consistent child-centered program aligned with YMCA standards and Healthy Child Development principles.
- Oversee all budgeting aspects and implement a robust business plan.
- Meet organizational commitments and targets related to various campaigns and initiatives.
- Actively participate as a vital member of a cohesive management team, striving to fulfill the mission of the YMCA.
Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work, Child and Youth) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least five (5) years of experience working with children and families in community programs.
- A minimum of three (3) years of direct supervisory experience leading staff and volunteers in a family or community program setting.
- Proven experience in developing and facilitating community-based programming and services for diverse demographics.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including proficient business writing abilities.
- Experience in fundraising and grant writing is considered an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
- First Aid Certificate is mandatory.
- Successful candidates must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months prior to the start date.
