Plant Operations Director

About the Role

The successful incumbent to this position is an experienced and hands-on leader who is capable of driving performance and leading technological and cultural change. This individual must have previous experience with plant performance turnaround in a complex technical manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate all manufacturing activities at the facility to meet and exceed operational goals and objectives in the areas of safety, environmental compliance, employee relations, customer service, product quality, cost, and productivity.
  • Develop and coach managers and supervisors in a high-performing environment.
  • Foster and maintain a positive and productive labor relations environment in a union environment.
  • Lead and manage continuous improvement activities and drive results in safety, quality, service, and productivity.
  • Implement systematic approaches to delivering and sustaining results.
  • Manage maintenance management systems and proactive maintenance practices.
  • Meet deadlines, work independently, and practice good organizational skills.
  • Work with all employees, support resources, sales, suppliers, customers, and the local community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of engineering degree (preference Mechanical engineering) with minimum 10 years plant manager experience or equivalent.
  • Strong skills in supply chain, production planning, scheduling, engineering, maintenance, management accounting, and project management.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma expertise a definite asset.
