Job Summary

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Family Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Families First program, you will play a vital role in providing long-term support to families with young children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain trusting relationships with families, providing emotional support and guidance as needed.
  • Develop and implement personalized service plans to support parents in optimizing their child's developmental potential.
  • Collaborate with community partners to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to family support.
  • Provide education and resources to families on early childhood growth and development, parenting strategies, and community resources.
  • Conduct home visits and participate in parent-child centered activities to promote healthy child development.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of family interactions, service plans, and progress.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as social work, early childhood education, or a related field.
  • Fluency in French is required, with the ability to speak, read, and write at a predetermined linguistic level.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in software applications, such as Microsoft Office.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluent English reading, writing, and oral skills.
  • Understanding of Indigenous customs and a commitment to cultural sensitivity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as a Family Support Worker or a related field.
  • Experience working with families with young children, particularly in the 0-5 age range.
Working Conditions
  • Evening and weekend work may be required, with flexibility to work in a variety of settings, including homes, community centers, and health facilities.
  • Physically able to lift and carry equipment, with the ability to engage in parent-child centered activities.
  • Access to a motor vehicle may be required, with a valid driver's license.
  • Subject to immunizations as per policy.
