As a Family Support Specialist, you will provide culturally appropriate services to families in crisis, working to stabilize and support them to ensure the least disruption. You will assist families/caregivers with immediate in-home support services and connect them with community response services.
Key qualifications include:
- 2+ years of direct work experience in family and community care services
- Knowledge of early childhood development and growth, and effective parenting
- Experience working with Indigenous communities
- Understanding of social factors that affect health and well-being
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License and access to a vehicle would be an asset
Essential skills include:
- Ability to work with families in crisis, understanding mental health challenges, addiction challenges, and identifying community resources for support
- Initiative to plan, organize, and manage time effectively
- Strong verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong non-judgmental problem-solving ability, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills
