Public Affairs Officer Job Description

Job Summary:

The Public Affairs Officer plays a critical role in shaping the Canadian Armed Forces' image and reputation. As a key advisor to military commanders, this role involves providing sound communications advice and guidance on all aspects of external and internal communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute communications strategies to inform the public of the Canadian Armed Forces' roles, activities, and work.
  • Analyze and evaluate attitudes in the national and international media.
  • Contribute to policy development and implementation.
  • Work in a modern office setting and deploy to support CAF operations during times of conflict, peace support operations, or humanitarian missions.
  • Collaborate with Image Techs to create products for social media and other channels.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Communications, Public Relations, International Relations, or Journalism.
  • Previous experience working in public affairs, public relations, or journalism is an asset.
  • Basic training and military officer qualification training are required.
