The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Kinesiologist to support a community-based health initiative that focuses on wellness and health programming. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with other provider groups and services to offer programming and support.
Reporting to the Provincial Chronic Disease Management and Wellness Health Services Lead, Primary Health Care, the successful candidate will utilize behavior change methods, and client-centered approaches to provide physical activity counselling and facilitate physical activity wellness programs (both virtually and in-person). The incumbent will work in a team-focused environment and collaborate with Primary Health Care staff, family physicians, other healthcare providers, and community groups.
The incumbent will be responsible for physical activity program development, implementation, and evaluation, and must possess excellent leadership skills. The successful candidate will be a member of an inter-professional team and will collaborate with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives, participate in the evaluation of team effectiveness, solve problems, and share responsibilities.
About You- Bachelor's degree in kinesiology from an accredited university
- Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) designation required
- One-year related experience required working in a Primary Health Care setting/community-based team/community setting and experience with individual and group education/facilitation utilizing adult education, self-management supports, and behavior change principles; experience working with people with chronic disease in an exercise program or setting
- Valid driver's license and daily access to a reliable car for travel for work, required to work at multiple sites and travel between various community locations throughout the catchment area
- Preferred experience in partnership development, stakeholder collaboration, and community development
- Experience working with people living with a chronic condition
- Understanding of population health, health promotion strategies, and behavior change principles
- In-depth knowledge of local community-based services is an asset
- Demonstrates person-centered/family-focused, diversity-relevant approaches to care
- Well-developed interpersonal, teamwork, oral, and written communication skills
- Demonstrates flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to change
- Demonstrates innovation in program planning, implementation, and evaluation, and quality improvement, planning skills
- Ability to speak and write in French would be considered an asset
- Permanent Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
- Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
$35.28 Hourly
