Position Overview

The primary responsibilities of the Senior Project Manager in Construction include:

  • Directing the entire construction process to ensure adherence to design specifications, budget constraints, and project timelines.
  • Accountable for the overall performance and reporting of the project, focusing on safety, budget management, scheduling, quality assurance, and project updates.
  • Evaluating the necessity for additional personnel or consultants; coordinating with department heads to secure required resources from within or outside the organization.
  • Preparing and presenting budget proposals and recommending necessary adjustments to financial plans.
  • Monitoring project performance metrics, including schedule adherence, cost management, equipment utilization, workforce allocation, material procurement, safety compliance, and quality control.
  • Tracking significant project milestones and deliverables to ensure timely completion.
  • Managing the project lifecycle from pre-construction phases through to project closeout.

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate

  • A minimum of 10 years of Canadian construction experience as a Project Manager, with a proven track record in ICI, long-term care, and college residence projects.
  • Experience overseeing at least two complete cycles of ICI projects valued between $60M and $120M.
  • Proficient in managing substantial contracts involving various trades, consultants, and construction management firms.
  • Possession of a post-secondary diploma in a construction-related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of diverse construction methodologies, project sequencing, potential challenges, and timelines.
  • Familiarity with project management and estimating software applications.
  • Understanding of applicable construction laws and building codes.

Compensation and Benefits
