Role Overview

The Mechanical Engineer position at SYSTRA Canada focuses on the design and development of mechanical systems and components for rail vehicles, with an emphasis on passenger cars.

  • Contribute to the preparation of studies and technical documentation addressing operational and reliability challenges in train systems.
  • Assist in formulating functional requirements and design specifications.
  • Support quality assurance initiatives, including conducting inspections and audits.
  • Interpret technical drawings for rail vehicle components and select appropriate materials to fulfill technical requirements.
  • Perform analyses to ensure adherence to customer specifications, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.
  • Engage in defining design criteria, developing 3D models, and reviewing production schematics.
  • Participate in inspections, testing, and the formulation of manufacturing guidelines.
  • Provide on-site technical assistance during the production and installation of mechanical systems.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

Experience: 3 to 5 years in mechanical design, including proficiency in 3D modeling and calculations

Technical Skills:

  • Registered member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec
  • Experience with vehicle systems is a plus
  • Proficient in 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or Catia
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis software is advantageous
  • Familiarity with rail vehicle standards is beneficial

Personal Attributes:

  • Fluency in French with functional proficiency in English
  • Strong organizational, motivational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is preferred
