We are looking for a mechanical engineer to join our adaptable team, dedicated to improving the performance and reliability of the mechanical systems within our train fleet.
Your main objective will be to prolong the lifespan of our railway assets, ensuring the safety of passengers and the reliability of our rolling stock.
You will take charge of executing configuration modifications in our passenger coaches and locomotives, as well as in our refurbishment initiatives, leveraging your theoretical knowledge, industry benchmarks, and practical expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop technical documentation (BOM, schematics, 3D models, procedures, technical specifications, etc.);
- Enhance the performance and dependability of mechanical systems, identify failure root causes, and propose design enhancements;
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to assess maintenance requirements and revise maintenance schedules;
- Ensure safety considerations are integrated throughout the design process;
- Act as a liaison with contractors, workshop staff, and other stakeholders;
- Review technical information provided by consultants, contractors, manufacturers, and suppliers, and engage in acceptance testing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering;
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a comparable position;
- Registered member of the ``Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec``;
- Hands-on experience in mechanical engineering, including project engineering, component and system development, technical issue analysis (mechanical and electromechanical), innovative solution development, integration of new technologies, and cost estimation in an industrial setting;
- Familiarity with system reliability concepts and maintenance programs;
- Proficient in CAD software, SolidWorks, AutoCAD;
- Strong command of the Microsoft Office suite;
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written (English and French);
- Knowledge of components within rolling stock systems, such as doors, stepboards, air and water conduits, etc. (an asset).
