VIA Rail Electrical Engineering Position

Are you enthusiastic about electrical engineering and eager to make a significant impact on large-scale initiatives? VIA Rail presents an excellent opportunity for an electrical engineer to engage in innovative railway projects. Reporting to the senior engineering manager, your role will involve implementing modifications to rolling stock and upgrading electrical, electronic, and instrumentation & control systems. You will act as a key communicator among workshop staff, procurement, and operational teams, offering essential technical support. Contribute to shaping the future of rail transport in Canada.

  • Develop enhancements for railway equipment
  • Improve the efficiency and reliability of electrical and control systems
  • Supervise the deployment of solutions
  • Provide technical assistance across various departments
  • Work on diverse electrical systems within train cars

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • Registered member of the "Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec"
  • At least 5 years of experience in electrical engineering
  • Experience in designing and modifying electrical circuits or systems
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Strong communication skills in both English and French

Preferred Strengths:

  • Experience with railway rolling stock or heavy transportation equipment
  • Familiarity with electro-pneumatic doors, electronic push-button systems, and control systems
  • Knowledge of PLC and HMI systems
  • Experience with systems such as Lanka, Wabtec, IFM, Witronix, etc.
