Position Overview

Are you enthusiastic about engineering and the railway sector? Do you thrive in dynamic environments, working with diverse systems and machinery? We are looking for a mechanical engineer to join our adaptable team, focused on improving the performance and reliability of our mechanical systems within our train fleet.

Your main objective will be to prolong the operational life of our railway assets, ensuring the safety of passengers and the reliability of our rolling stock.

You will take charge of executing configuration modifications in our passenger coaches and locomotives, as well as in our refurbishment initiatives, utilizing your theoretical knowledge, industry benchmarks, and hands-on experience.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop technical documentation (BOM, schematics, 3D models, procedures, technical specifications, etc.);
  • Enhance the performance and dependability of mechanical systems, diagnose failure causes, and propose design enhancements;
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to assess maintenance requirements and revise maintenance schedules;
  • Ensure safety considerations are integrated throughout the design phase;
  • Act as a liaison with contractors, workshop staff, and other stakeholders;
  • Review technical submissions from consultants, contractors, manufacturers, and suppliers, and engage in acceptance testing.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering;
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience;
  • Registered member of the ``Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec``;
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical engineering, including project management, component and system design, technical issue analysis (mechanical and electromechanical), innovative solution development, integration of new technologies, and cost estimation in an industrial setting;
  • Familiarity with system reliability concepts and maintenance programs;
  • Proficient in CAD software, including SolidWorks and AutoCAD;
  • Strong skills in the Microsoft Office suite;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French;
  • Knowledge of components in rolling stock systems, such as doors, stepboards, air and water conduits, etc. (preferred).
