Internal part-time candidates will receive priority consideration as per the Part-Time Support Collective Agreement.

Reporting to the Manager of Educational Technology within Learning and Teaching Services, the Educational Technology Support Consultant (Tier 1) role is focused on delivering front-line support to educators at Algonquin College. This involves evaluating, documenting, and swiftly resolving issues that may arise from software, technical glitches, or user errors.

In addition to providing assistance to faculty utilizing educational technologies, the role includes developing training materials and communication resources, updating training platforms and support documentation, and redesigning educational resources. The consultant will also offer technology support for daily consulting activities related to the Learning Management System and other educational tools.

The consultant will provide technical advice and professional development sessions to faculty and staff regarding current and emerging educational technologies, applications, and enhancements, while staying informed about relevant trends in the field.

Feedback collection from clients regarding all support services will be a key responsibility; the consultant will analyze, isolate, and resolve issues by implementing corrective measures for user-reported technical challenges.

Various troubleshooting tools and techniques will be employed as necessary, with sensitive requests and feedback escalated appropriately.

A minimum of a three (3) year diploma or degree in Educational Technology, Education, Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant combination of education and experience is required.

Candidates should possess at least five (5) years of experience (or equivalent education) in information technology and/or the educational technology sector, including:

  • Three (3) years of experience in supporting and troubleshooting a Learning Management System (LMS) or other enterprise educational technology tools.
  • Recent and relevant experience with contemporary educational technologies, eLearning products, and Learning Management Systems.
  • Experience in training and supporting educational technology.
  • Proven ability to assist faculty in designing face-to-face, online, and hybrid lessons through recommendations on learning methodologies, assessment activities, course structure, LMS integration, educational technologies, and other interactive course elements.

Expected Weekly Schedule:
Monday to Thursday with 6-hour shifts.

This position allows for hybrid work in accordance with the College's Flexible Work Arrangement Policy (subject to change).
