Position Overview
As an Assistive Technology Specialist, you will play a crucial role in assessing and recommending tailored assistive technology hardware and software. Your expertise will enable clients to regain or enhance their daily living skills, ensuring their safety and mobility.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify individual needs related to assistive technology.
- Prepare detailed assessment reports and provide recommendations for assistive technology solutions.
- Assist clients in implementing assistive technology, including setup and training.
- Engage in public speaking and educational workshops to raise awareness about assistive technology.
- Utilize electronic systems to document client goals and rehabilitation plans.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and community organizations to promote understanding of assistive technology.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in technology or a related field.
- Experience working with individuals with vision loss across various age groups.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to make informed decisions and solve problems effectively.
- Knowledge of assistive technology and access technology.
Work Environment
