Department: Nephrology

Reports to: Senior Clinical Director

Employment Type: Temporary Full-Time

Salary Range: $97,578 - $121,972 per annum

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) in this role will operate with a specialized focus, exhibiting a high degree of autonomy and advanced clinical skills to make informed decisions. The NP will adhere to the guiding principles and standards of UHN and the Nephrology Division, integrating both nursing and medical knowledge to assess, diagnose, treat, and monitor patients experiencing renal failure who require in-center hemodialysis. This position balances independent practice with collaborative efforts alongside interdisciplinary healthcare teams in Nephrology.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Certification as a Registered Nurse (EC) is mandatory
  • Nurse Practitioner (NP) certification in Adult or Primary Care is essential
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing
  • A minimum of three to five years of clinical experience in Nephrology nursing within an acute care setting
  • National certification in Nephrology Nursing from the Canadian Nurses Association is required
  • Preferred: Gerontological certification
  • Preferred: Experience in nursing research methodologies
  • Preferred: Eligibility for cross-appointment to an academic institution
  • Preferred: Membership in the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) and CANNT
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal and customer service abilities
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong decision-making, problem recognition, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Skills in program planning and evaluation methodologies
  • Commitment to collaborative practice
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage stress effectively
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands
  • Proficient in utilizing information technology
  • National certification in Nephrology Nursing from the Canadian Nurses Association is required
  • Preferred: Membership in the Nurse Practitioner Association of Ontario
