Mental Health Therapist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Therapist to join our team at the Edmonton North Primary Care Network. As a Mental Health Therapist, you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide individual therapy and group facilitation services to patients aged 14 and above.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct mental health assessments and provide individual psychotherapy using evidence-based treatment modalities.
  • Make autonomous decisions in coordinating care and determining treatment plans for referred clients.
  • Develop and maintain a good understanding of the Behavioural Health Consultant model and work collaboratively with them to ensure clients' mental health needs are met.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate with clients' physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Facilitate group training and assist in developing policy and procedures relevant to this position.
  • Participate in establishing health promotion programs and collaborate with other Mental Health Therapists and interdisciplinary team members.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in psychology, Counselling, or Social Work (clinical specialization).
  • Active professional registration and good standing with CAP or an accredited Association under Health Professions Act.
  • Certification in a core suite of evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
  • Minimum three years' experience providing individual and group therapy in a community agency.
  • Cultural competence and experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds and related language needs.
