Job Description

ATS Automation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Control Systems Hardware Designer to join our Life Sciences Systems team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop complete control systems and electrical design packages based on customer specifications and ATS standard practices.
  • Collaborate with mechanical designers to ensure control systems meet safety and reliability standards.
  • Develop detailed electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics, cable routing diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, and material requisitions.
  • Work with the Controls Engineering Department and other groups to improve integration of controls technology, enhance safety, functionality, and reduce costs.
  • Specify electrical and controls-related hardware and software, and produce requisitions for material purchases.
  • Integrate third-party equipment and electronic components into electrical design packages.
  • Verify electrical design packages are complete, accurate, and safe, and that I/O drawings meet program requirements.
  • Provide training to customers on electrical hardware, machine operation, programming principles, program functionality, and program structure.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary technology diploma or engineering degree in electronics, electrical, or controls technology.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical control systems design, preferably in industrial automation.
  • Working knowledge of ePlan and AutoCAD, and ability to stay up-to-date with leading-edge technology.
