3D Modeling Supervisor – Real-Time Animation

Job Overview:
The Modeling Lead plays a crucial role within Reel FX Creative Studios, reporting directly to the Modeling Supervisor. This position is dedicated to the development of both hard surface and organic 3D models. The Lead will also mentor junior artists, ensuring adherence to the studio's artistic and technical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop high-quality, production-ready 3D models that are visually appealing and technically proficient, tailored to the specific requirements of each project while considering the needs of various departments.
• Create character maquettes as required.
• Revise and enhance models provided by clients.
• Collaborate with the Supervisor to evaluate artist submissions for compliance with technical and artistic standards.
• Provide guidance to new team members on the use of pipeline tools and best practices.
• Prepare instructional materials and documentation to facilitate the learning of new tools or workflows for fellow artists.
• Identify challenges and collaborate with the Supervisor to devise corrective strategies.
• Recognize and commend outstanding performance among artists.
• Critically assess models from both artistic and technical perspectives, offering constructive feedback as necessary.
• Address and resolve existing issues.
• Work with the Supervisor to explore new tools and workflows that could enhance current practices.
Required Qualifications:
• A degree or diploma in fine arts, animation, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in Feature Film, Commercial, or Video Game production.
• Familiarity with contemporary industry production methodologies.
• Strong communication skills for articulating creative and technical concepts.
• Ability to make informed creative and aesthetic decisions.
• Previous experience in a supervisory or training capacity is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Maya and Zbrush.
• Solid understanding of Unreal Engine or similar game engines is a plus.
• Expertise in poly and sub-D modeling using Maya, Modo, or other comparable high-end software.
• Knowledge of facial rigging requirements, including the creation of facial blendshape sets and expressions.
• Understanding of surfacing needs, including the ability to create UV sets.
• A strong aesthetic sensibility, demonstrating the ability to make creative and aesthetic judgments.
