Job Overview:

The Modeling Lead is a pivotal role within Reel FX Creative Studios, reporting directly to the Modeling Supervisor. This position is focused on the development of both hard surface and organic 3D models. The Lead will also play a crucial role in mentoring new artists, ensuring they adhere to the studio's artistic and technical standards.

Key Responsibilities:


• Develop high-quality, production-ready 3D models that are visually compelling and technically proficient, catering to the specific requirements of each project while considering the needs of various departments.

• Create character maquettes as required.

• Revise and refine models provided by clients.

• Collaborate with the Supervisor to evaluate artist submissions against established technical and artistic benchmarks.

• Provide guidance to new hires on utilizing pipeline tools and adhering to best practices.

• Prepare instructional materials and documentation to facilitate the learning of new tools or workflows for fellow artists.

• Identify challenges and collaborate with the Supervisor to devise corrective strategies.

• Recognize and commend outstanding performance among artists.

• Critically assess models for both artistic merit and technical accuracy, offering constructive feedback as necessary.

• Address and troubleshoot existing issues.

• Work alongside the Supervisor to explore innovative tools and workflows that can enhance current practices.

Required Qualifications:


• A degree or diploma in fine arts, animation, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• At least 5 years of experience in Feature Film, Commercial, or Video Game production.

• Familiarity with contemporary industry production methodologies.

• Strong communication skills for articulating creative and technical concepts.

• Ability to make informed creative and aesthetic decisions.

• Previous experience in a supervisory or training capacity is advantageous.

• Proficiency in Maya and Zbrush.

• Knowledge of Unreal Engine or similar game engines is a plus.

• Expertise in poly and sub-D modeling using Maya, Modo, or other high-end software.

• Understanding of facial rigging requirements, including the creation of facial blendshape sets and expressions.

• Knowledge of surfacing needs, including the ability to create UV sets.

• A strong aesthetic sensibility, demonstrating the ability to make creative and aesthetic judgments.
