Millwright - Equipment Maintenance Specialist

About the Role:

The Millwright is a key member of the maintenance team at DPC Saputo Dairy Products Canada G.P., responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of manufacturing and packaging equipment. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role requires a high level of technical expertise and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment to minimize downtime and ensure production efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment in breakdown situations, utilizing technical knowledge and analytical skills to identify and resolve issues.
  • Manage the stockroom and coordinate the ordering of parts and materials required for maintenance and repairs.
  • Install, modify, and replace equipment as needed, ensuring all work is done safely and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other trades groups to complete project assignments and provide training to plant staff as required.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including equipment logs and repair histories.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company quality and sanitation standards, as well as regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Plant Manager.

Requirements:

  • Professional Certificate of Industrial Maintenance (e.g. 442A Certificate of Qualification) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting, with a focus on equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience related to the food industry, preferably dairy or high-speed process equipment or packaging experience.
  • Pneumatics and hydraulics knowledge, with experience in boiler, refrigeration, and air handling systems an asset.
  • Ability to read blueprints, troubleshoot, and possess analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, with a high level of self-motivation and initiative.
  • Dependable with a good attendance and safety record.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Ability to support all shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and overtime, as required.
