Employee Relations Specialist

About the Role:

GardaWorld is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join our team. As an Employee Relations Specialist, you will play a critical role in promoting a positive and productive work environment, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, and providing strategic support to management and employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Employee Relations: Provide guidance and support to employees and management on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance management, and workplace investigations.
  2. Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
  3. Strategic Support: Provide strategic support to management and employees on employee relations matters, including developing and implementing employee relations strategies and programs.
  4. Communication: Communicate effectively with employees, management, and other stakeholders on employee relations matters.
  5. Problem-Solving: Analyze and resolve complex employee relations issues, including conflicts, grievances, and performance management issues.

Requirements:

A minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in a unionized environment. Post-Secondary Education in Human Resources or Labour Relations or equivalent work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Employee relations, including principles and best practices, current theories, and trends.
  2. Experience working within federal jurisdiction is ideal.
  3. Proven experience of working with collective agreements or arbitral jurisprudence.
  4. Negotiation and dispute resolution methods and techniques.
  5. Proven ability in providing advice and support to employees, operations, and management to address/resolve routine labour or employee relations issues and situations.

Working Conditions:

20% to 30% of this position is travel-based, within Canada. Higher travel requirement during collective bargaining negotiations. Most of the time is spent in an office environment with frequent opportunity to move about. Occasionally, moves/lifts light objects.
