About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Business Development Manager to join our team at Kaizen Lab Inc. As a key member of our Professional Services team, you will be responsible for driving business growth and development through strategic partnerships, project management, and people management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development
    • Develop and implement business growth strategies to increase revenue and expand our services
    • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry leaders, and academic institutions
    • Identify new areas of opportunity for program and service development
    • Develop and implement systems for tracking business development efforts and managing key relationships
  • Project Management
    • Lead the development of new proposals, including technical writing, budget creation, and sourcing partners
    • Execute multiple projects within scope, budget, and timeline expectations to ensure high-quality standards on project deliverables
    • Participate in budget management, including forecasting, scheduling expenditures, and managing in-kind requirements
    • Autonomously execute decision-making in a decisive manner, as it relates to determining project guidelines, purpose, deliverables, and execution
  • People Management
    • Interact with employees to direct workflow, assess performance, and problem-solve
    • Ensure short-, mid-, and long-term targets and productivity are met or exceeded
    • Foster collaboration across the team, ensuring accountability for autonomous work
    • Set expectations for performance using individualized work plans and performance management strategies for direct reporting staff

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, business or project management-related field considered an asset
  • 5+ years of experience in project management, preferably in the environmental sector
  • 3+ years of experience in leadership roles, including performance management, coaching, and strategic planning
  • Intermediate to advanced user in MS Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Experience developing new products, programs, and/or services considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability working with budgets and financials
  • Demonstrated success in writing proposals and managing projects
  • Ability to evaluate and synthesize relevant technical data and research accurately
  • Experience developing strategic partnerships
  • Must be willing to travel periodically throughout Canada
  • Prior experience with government RFPs/grant applications will be considered a strong asset
  • Fluency in French considered an asset
  • EP Designation considered an asset
