Role Overview
LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services is seeking a Lab Patient Technician to contribute to our mission in a part-time capacity. This role is crucial in the specimen collection process, encompassing everything from welcoming patients to preparing specimens for transport. The position allows for up to 20 hours of work per week, offering flexibility and the potential for additional shifts at various locations.
Responsibilities
As a Lab Patient Technician, your duties will include:
- Welcoming patients and gathering necessary information, while explaining the specimen collection process and ensuring compliance with testing protocols.
- Conducting phlebotomies, connecting and disconnecting Holter monitors, and performing ECG tracings.
- Executing specialized test collections, including medical/legal drug screenings and paternity tests, while completing all required documentation.
- Maintaining client relationships by addressing inquiries and following up on requests.
- Entering patient demographics and requisition details accurately into our systems.
- Preparing specimens for transportation and subsequent testing.

Qualifications

- Graduation from an accredited Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent experience.
- Experience in phlebotomy.

- Proficient computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.
- Ability to uphold the highest standards of patient confidentiality and privacy.
