Community Planning Manager

The City of Port Coquitlam is seeking a visionary leader to fill the position of Community Planning Manager. This role is responsible for developing and implementing long-range planning initiatives that will shape the future of the city.
Reporting to the Director of Development Services, the successful candidate will provide strategic advice and consultation to senior staff, departments, and city council on community planning policy. This includes the implementation, monitoring, and coordination of the city's Official Community Plan and other long-range planning documents.
The ideal candidate will have a post-graduate degree in planning or a related field and six years of experience in a municipal government setting, with three years of supervisory experience. A valid driver's license is required, and applicants under consideration will need to complete a police information check.
The annual salary for this position is $140,545 to $165,347, supplemented by a competitive total compensation package.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement long-range planning initiatives
- Provide strategic advice and consultation to senior staff, departments, and city council
- Implement, monitor, and coordinate the city's Official Community Plan and other long-range planning documents
- Develop, monitor, review, and evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs, planning policies, and regulations
- Attend meetings of council, committees of council, and associated bodies
Requirements
- Post-graduate degree in planning or a related field
- Six years of experience in a municipal government setting
- Three years of supervisory experience
- Valid driver's license
- Police information check
