Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Manager to lead our club operations and ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will have a strong background in fitness club management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to create a positive and enthusiastic team atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service
    • Maintain a welcoming atmosphere for all members, prospective members, and guests, and ensure staff follow superior customer service guidelines.
    • Greet members and guests, providing exceptional customer service to ensure that everyone feels welcome.
    • Facilitate all member requests and help to resolve any member issues and questions.
  • Staff Supervision
    • Create the gym schedule and supervise staff to ensure that all shifts are covered.
    • Ensure staff provide a superior customer experience at all times.
    • Assist in resolving or escalating employee issues or concerns.
    • Approve weekly club payroll and prepare necessary paperwork.
  • Operations
    • Participate in regular facility cleaning and club upkeep, including mopping, trash removal, cleaning windows and mirrors, and re-racking weights.
    • Oversee the safety of employees, members, and club property by determining when equipment or facilities are in need of repair and communicating to the executive director in a timely manner.
    • Support the implementation of various events hosted by 13th Round.
    • Identify supplies needed and follow purchasing protocols when ordering supplies.
  • Member Management
    • Develop and implement member satisfaction surveys to improve program delivery.
    • Respond to member requests for holds and membership cancellations.
    • Maximize the use of Glofox, 13th Round's member management platform.
    • Use diplomacy to communicate 13th Round terms and conditions with the membership.
    • Communicate with the membership regarding schedule changes, events, and/or new programming.
  • Administration / Marketing / Sales
    • Develop marketing strategies to increase membership and revenue.
    • Drive the expansion of personal training revenue.
    • Develop retention strategies to retain current members.
    • Collaborate with 13th Round management and trainers to develop specialized boxing courses to expand the member experience and generate new sources of revenue.
    • Support the generation of content for 13th Round's social media channels.
Requirements
  • College diploma or university degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience working in a fitness club environment.
  • Experience communicating with gym membership and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Clear and effective management style with the ability to create a strong team dynamic.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Capacity to manage competing priorities and develop plans to advance organizational goals.
  • Commitment to implementing directives as determined by 13th Round management.
  • Hard working, enthusiastic, and energetic with a passion for health and fitness.
  • High level of confidence working with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Office.
  • Experience creating successful marketing campaigns and tracking results through metrics.
  • Available to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Experience with member management software (Glofox) an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to create an inclusive environment that serves the needs of a wide-cross section of clientele.
  • CanPro or equivalent fitness certification.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to complete upon hiring).
  • Clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
Compensation and Benefits

Competitive annual salary and sales bonuses.

40 hours per week, including evening and weekends.

Reports to the Executive Director/Board of Directors.
