Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Resource Centre Technician to join our team at the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to students and staff in the use of digital resources and technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and assistance to students and staff in the use of digital resources and technologies.
  • Manage and maintain the school's digital resource centre, including the cataloging and processing of books and other materials.
  • Assist education staff and students in conducting research and locating resources on a variety of topics.
  • Develop and maintain reports of resource usage to inform, maximize and make recommendations regarding the usage of resources within our Catholic schools.
  • Provide excellent customer service and support to students and staff.
Requirements
  • Two-year post-secondary diploma in Library and Information Technology or equivalent.
  • One year of related experience in a computerized/digital environment.
  • Intermediate/Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft environment including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with a variety of digital and web-based resources and processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, self-motivated and self-directed.
Preferred Requirements
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in an educational library environment.
  • Understanding of the needs of the 21st-century learner and related Global Competencies.
  • Understanding of and familiarity with the unique structure of a learning commons environment and how these supports fostering innovation, creativity, student engagement, and learning in the 21st Century.
  • A demonstrated commitment to creating a modernized and innovative resource center that supports student learning.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with a variety of databases commonly used by the Board.
  • Knowledge of applicable copyright laws inclusive of regulations and board policies.
  • Knowledge & understanding of board policies and procedures related to technology integration and the use of social media.
  • Proficiency in cataloging and book processing in a modernized learning environment.
  • Library technical skills within a modern 21st Century digital and automated environment.
  • Records management skills and experience, including the accurate, secure, and effective management of information and records received and produced by the organization.
