Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist

IPEX, a leading provider of advanced plastic piping systems, is seeking a dedicated professional to join our team as a Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist. This role is based in our Clarkson plant in Ontario and reports to the HSE Business Partner.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing safety observations, assisting the location and stakeholders, coordinating the risk management process, and supporting the development and implementation of safe work practices. This position will also facilitate the internal audit process to ensure compliance with legal and corporate requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement site-specific HSE programs, procedures, training, and work instructions.
  • Drive engagement in HSE programs and standard processes.
  • Lead gap analysis and develop action plans.
  • Support investigations into HSE non-conformances, accidents, environmental releases, and other incidents.
  • Report incidents to relevant authorities and manage claims.
  • Collaborate on HSE training programs and adapt them to local requirements.
  • Support the Health and Safety committee.
  • Support cross-functional teams in implementing site-specific controls and programs.
  • Support internal and external environmental reporting.
  • Maintain summary data and facilitate reporting on environmental critical metrics.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Recognized degree, diploma, or designation in Health & Safety, Environmental, Engineering, or Human Resources.
  • 2+ years of experience with applicable legislations, laws, and standards.
  • 5+ years of experience in Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the plastic industry.
  • Minimum 1-year experience in management systems.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication and training facilitation skills.
  • Strong computer skills and technical proficiency.
