Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist to join our team at our Clarkson plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing safety observations, assisting the location and stakeholders, coordinating the risk management process, and supporting the development and implementation of safe work practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement site-specific HSE programs, procedures, training, and work instructions.
- Drive HSE-related activities and enhance engagement in HSE programs and standard processes.
- Lead gap analysis process and develop action plans to address identified gaps.
- Support and facilitate investigations into HSE non-conformances, accidents, environmental releases, and other incidents.
- Report incidents to regulatory authorities and manage the claims process.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain site-specific controls, programs, and tools to improve compliance and performance.
- Support internal and external environmental reporting and maintain summary data.
- Review and update the hazardous materials program and site-specific training.
Requirements
- Recognized degree, diploma, or designation in Health & Safety, Environmental, Engineering, or Human Resources.
- 2+ years of experience with applicable legislations, laws, and standards related to health, safety, environment, and employment standards.
- 5+ years of experience in Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the plastic industry.
- Minimum 1-year experience in management systems.
- Excellent communication and training facilitation skills.
- Strong computer skills and technical proficiency.
- Results-driven and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
