Job Title: Server

Join our team as a Server at Fairmont Hotel Macdonald, where you will be an ambassador for exceptional service and cuisine. As a Server, you will provide warm, personal attention and knowledge of our outstanding Food & Beverage offerings to make guests feel unique and valued.

Responsibilities:
  • Consistently offer professional, friendly, and engaging service to guests.
  • Follow departmental policies, procedures, and service standards to ensure a seamless dining experience.
  • Assist guests with menu items in an informative and helpful way, highlighting our signature dishes and promotions.
  • Project a pleasant and positive professional image to guests at all times, ensuring a memorable experience.
  • Sell and up-sell menu and beverage items in a positive, professional manner, showcasing our extensive wine list and craft cocktails.
  • Have full knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents, and preparation methods to answer guest questions and make recommendations.
  • Deliver and present food items to guest tables with a smile, ensuring timely and efficient service.
  • Process guest checks in a timely and efficient manner, handling payments and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Bus and re-set tables to maintain a clean and inviting atmosphere, ensuring a seamless transition between courses.
  • Perform opening, cleaning, and closing duties to maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization in the dining area.
  • Report any irregularities or comments from guests to supervisors and leadership, ensuring prompt resolution and maintaining a positive reputation.
  • Take initiative to rectify guest recoveries as per brand standards, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage, maintaining a clean and hygienic environment for guests.
  • Adhere to the hotel's vehicle handling and safety policies while driving hotel and guest vehicles, ensuring a safe and responsible experience.
Qualifications:
  • 1 year a-la-carte serving experience required in the last 5 years, with a proven track record of providing exceptional service.
  • Pro Serve certification required, demonstrating a commitment to food safety and handling.
  • Previous point of sale system experience an asset, showcasing technical skills and efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on providing exceptional guest experiences.
  • Highly responsible and reliable, with a commitment to maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity.
