Job Title: Developmental Support Worker - Specialized

Empower Simcoe is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Developmental Support Worker - Specialized to join our team. As a key member of our support team, you will provide high-quality support to individuals with complex needs, empowering them to live independently and reach their full potential.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced support worker to provide specialized support to individuals with complex needs. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our team to develop and implement personalized support plans, ensuring that each individual receives the highest level of care and support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide daily support to individuals with complex needs, including personal care, meal preparation, and housekeeping.
  • Develop and implement personalized support plans, working collaboratively with the individual, their family, and our team.
  • Provide guidance and support in areas such as activities of daily living, personal care, communication, emotional, physical, and mental health, safety, finances, and relationship development.
  • Facilitate family participation in the individual's life, supporting them to build strong relationships and connections.
  • Administer medications and document medication dispensing in accordance with our policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the health and safety of individuals supported, staff, visitors, and the community, implementing all safety protocols as required.
Requirements:
  • Certificate in Social Services or a closely related field from an accredited college.
  • Minimum of one year of recent full-time work experience supporting adults with complex needs in community residential settings.
  • Experience supporting individuals with behavior management techniques is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond calmly in crisis situations through verbal de-escalation and physical intervention techniques.
