Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physiotherapist II to join our team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and MotherBaby Care (MBC) at BC Women's Hospital + Health Centre. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide expert physiotherapy services to patients and their families, working collaboratively with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments and develop individualized treatment plans to address the unique needs of patients in the NICU and MBC.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide evidence-based physiotherapy interventions, including the development and implementation of innovative solutions to complex assessment and treatment issues.
  • Document patient information, including clinical data, assessments, treatment plans, and progress reports, to ensure accurate and comprehensive patient records.
  • Assess patient needs for specialized equipment and assist with obtaining necessary resources to support patient care.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams to foster optimal patient outcomes.
  • Develop and participate in patient and family education programs, including the establishment of treatment and care plans.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams and committees to contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and best practices in physiotherapy.
  • Contribute to research initiatives and projects, collaborating with senior personnel to develop research proposals and participate in data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings.
  • Provide education and training to healthcare professionals, including in-services, continuing education, and mentorship opportunities.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Physiotherapy or Rehabilitation Sciences and/or licensure with the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia.
  • Two years of recent related experience, including one year working with the designated patient population within BC Children's Hospital or BC Women's Hospital and Health Centre, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 50 hours of postgraduate coursework or training related to additional procedures, techniques, or job functions for assigned area.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in groups, one-on-one, and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, motivator, and facilitator.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs and materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • Demonstrated ability to critically appraise research evidence.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
