Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Radiological Technologist to be part of the Computed Tomography team. This role is essential in delivering high-quality imaging services.
Responsibilities of the Radiological Technologist 3 include:
Conducting specialized imaging examinations in computed tomography (CT) and general radiographic procedures while adhering to departmental protocols and ensuring safe radiation practices. Key tasks involve: managing and fulfilling requisitions, inputting pertinent information into the radiology information system, preparing examination trays and assisting patients for specific imaging procedures, operating advanced imaging equipment and managing the processing and storage of acquired data, monitoring patients throughout procedures, and overseeing the performance of imaging equipment.Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
Certification from the CAMRT (Computed Tomography). Completion of an advanced specialty program in Computed Tomography along with one (1) year of recent, relevant experience in CT imaging, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course as required by site practice. Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).Knowledge & Skills
Comprehensive understanding of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging professionals set by the CAMRT and other relevant national associations. In-depth knowledge of evidence-based practices related to the designated imaging modality. Familiarity with organizational policies, procedures, and standards of care, including safe operational practices with imaging equipment. Strong grasp of current General Radiography and CT theories and practices within a patient-centered care model. Proven ability to implement safe work procedures with medical imaging technology. Understanding of research methodologies and processes. Proficiency in PACS/radiology information systems, digital imaging, and data archiving and retrieval. Capability to develop procedural protocols and manuals. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact positively with patients, families, colleagues, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. Competence in resolving conflicts and guiding others in conflict resolution. Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with team members. Skill in planning and prioritizing workload in cooperation with others. Expertise in CT techniques and the operation of relevant equipment and supplies. Proficiency in CPR techniques. Capability to operate related equipment and software applications. Physical capability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.Additional Information
Work hours, including days off and work areas, may vary based on operational needs and collective agreement provisions. Successful candidates may need to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
