About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Informatics Specialist to join our team at Providence Healthcare. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in implementing and maintaining our health information systems to improve clinical processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Systems Review and Analysis
    • Participate in systems reviews and needs assessments to identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Meet with system users to understand current-state workflows and analyze clinical requirements.
    • Translate clinical processes into technical system solutions to meet clinical needs.
  • Design and Implementation
    • Inform the design of new and existing clinical information technologies in accordance with organizational priorities and best practice standards.
    • Evaluate solutions for effectiveness in collaboration with other departments.
  • Project Planning and Support
    • Participate in the development of project plans and related documents to support clinical informatics projects.
    • Support the implementation of computer and communications technologies and clinical change initiatives.
  • Troubleshooting and Support
    • Provide on-site or remote application troubleshooting to a wide variety of end users.
    • Act as a resource to staff to ensure quality of data and consistent practices.
  • Leadership and Collaboration
    • May provide work direction and support to other staff.
    • Lead and participate in steering committees and working groups for PHC or regional informatics projects.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives, or currently practicing registration as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
    • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years' experience in a healthcare environment, including extensive experience with related computer technology, clinical informatics, clinical change management, and project leadership.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Basic understanding of data, clinical information, and how these are operationalized within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to create knowledge.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the provision of evidence-based practice in a clinical setting.
    • Demonstrated experience with functional requirement assessment.
