Qualifications and Requirements

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse to join our Intensive Case Management Team as a RN/RPN. The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background in nursing, with a minimum of two years of experience in adult or child/youth Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) nursing. Additionally, the candidate should have a minimum of six months of experience supporting clients with substance use issues in a community setting or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

The successful candidate will be registered with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or a practicing RPN registrant and hold current CPR certification.

Key Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong assessment and treatment planning skills, with the ability to use the nursing process in mental health treatment programs.
  • Ability to administer and monitor the side effects of psychotropic medications.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to work independently in a community setting.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment, with a focus on providing high-quality patient care.
  • Strong leadership and teaching skills, with the ability to communicate and counsel individuals, families, and groups.
  • Ability to manage aggressive behavior and use non-violent crisis intervention and behavioral management techniques where appropriate.
  • Ability to adapt to changing program requirements and priorities.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job, with the ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to travel and meet the operational requirements of the program.
