Qualifications and Requirements

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) to join our Intensive Case Management Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mental health nursing and experience working with clients with substance use issues.

Key qualifications include:

  • Graduation from a recognized nursing program
  • Minimum of two years adult or child/youth mental health and substance use (MHSU) nursing experience
  • Experience supporting clients with substance use issues in a community setting
  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or a practicing RPN registrant
  • Current CPR certification

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. They will also have a strong understanding of the Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) model and be able to apply case management methodologies, including motivational interviewing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate client care
  • Administer and monitor the side effects of psychotropic medications
  • Work independently in a community setting
  • Work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment
  • Practice initiative, good interpersonal, crisis intervention, leadership, and teaching skills
  • Manage aggressive behavior and use non-violent crisis intervention and behavioral management techniques
  • Adapt and accept change as the program evolves
  • Perform physical duties of the job
  • Operate related equipment
