Qualifications and Requirements

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) to join our Intensive Case Management Team. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in nursing, with a minimum of two years of experience in adult or child/youth Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) nursing. Additionally, they will have a minimum of six months of experience supporting clients with substance use issues in a community setting or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

The ideal candidate will be registered with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or a practicing RPN registrant and hold current CPR certification. They will also have knowledge of the Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) model, assessment and treatment methodologies, and case management principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams to provide high-quality care.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate client care using the nursing process.
  • Administer and monitor the side effects of psychotropic medications.
  • Work independently in a community setting and effectively collaborate with team members.
  • Practice initiative, good interpersonal, crisis intervention, leadership, and teaching skills, and effective communication and counseling with individuals, families, and groups.
  • Manage aggressive behavior and use non-violent crisis intervention and behavioral management techniques where appropriate.
  • Adapt to changing program requirements and priorities.
  • Meet the physical demands of the job and operate related equipment.
  • Travel is a requirement of this position, and transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the program.
