Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Social Services Support Specialist to join our team at PHSA. As a key member of our Forensic Mental Health department, you will provide administrative support to our social work team, ensuring the smooth operation of our programs and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clerical support to the social work department, including gathering and maintaining patient records, scheduling appointments, and preparing reports.
- Liaise with interdisciplinary teams to provide program-related information and represent the assigned program at meetings as required.
- Prepare and mail packages containing consent forms and questionnaires to internal and external partners, and monitor the return of these documents.
- Collect and enter data into computerized systems, ensuring data is up-to-date and accurate.
- Set up and maintain patient and administrative filing systems, adhering to policies and procedures designed to protect confidentiality.
- Upload patient paperwork into the database and monitor and request missing documents from clinical staff.
- Provide administrative duties as required, including answering phone calls, emails, and general inquiries from hospital and community.
Requirements
- Completion of a recognized Social Service Worker or Social Service Diploma Program, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- General knowledge of social work, mental health, and substance services.
- Ability to relate well with others and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to adjust to new or unexpected events, problem-solve, and effectively deal with conflict situations.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
