Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Data Protection Director to join our Information Security department. The successful candidate will lead and oversee the cross-functional and enterprise-wide data protection function, ensuring the most sensitive data is identified, classified, tagged, and protected.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the overall strategy, methodology, and roadmap for the data protection processes, systems, tools, and technologies utilized.
- Collaborate with cross-functional groups and leadership to identify and classify sensitive data.
- Own the enterprise data protection strategy, policies, and standards that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional groups and leadership to ensure sensitive and proprietary data is appropriately tagged and protected.
- Evaluate the data loss program for efficacy and recommend improvements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on data protection standards in responding to due diligence requests and managing data loss incidents.
- Lead cross-functional team members through an indirect reporting relationship.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or demonstrated significant expertise in data protection through practical experience.
- 10+ years of progressive and relevant work experience, with demonstrated leadership skills leading diverse information security teams/functions.
- One or more relevant professional certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA, SSCP, CEH, etc.).
- Understanding of legal, regulatory, and/or customer requirements for data protection.
- Familiarity and working knowledge of data protection technologies and solutions.
- Ability to identify and assess potential risks to data and implement measures to mitigate them.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplined environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with the ability to work on multiple concurrent tasks with demanding deadlines.
