Job Summary

: The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of school buildings and equipment, ensuring compliance with Board, local and provincial government operational and health and safety standards. Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, repairs, and replacements
  • Operate and maintain equipment and machinery
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations
  • Develop and implement custodial schedules and procedures
  • Monitor and report on maintenance and repair needs

Requirements

:
  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
  • Compliance with health and safety guidelines
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishments
  • Updated WHMIS training
  • Good interpersonal skills in dealing with adolescents and the general public
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively

Working Conditions

: The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment. The ideal candidate will be physically fit and able to lift heavy objects.
