Position Overview: Part-time role as a Child Care Supply RECE.
The Role: Contribute to the development of vibrant, healthy communities by creating nurturing spaces for children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care for children, including assistance with toileting, administering first aid, managing medication, and monitoring dietary needs and medical conditions.
- Engage actively with children, ensuring their safety and supervision in a group setting of up to 15 children.
- Design and implement play-based learning activities in alignment with the YMCA Curriculum.
- Maintain positive and professional communication with families, colleagues, and volunteers consistently.
- Foster an inclusive environment that meets the diverse needs of all children, including those with exceptional behaviors and additional requirements.
- Exhibit behaviors that reflect our Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Adhere to the work schedule to maintain appropriate child-to-staff ratios and provide timely notice to supervisors regarding any unexpected changes.
- Show flexibility in adapting to routines and schedules.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification or completion of certification within the first 90 days of employment.
- Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Up-to-date immunizations in accordance with local public health guidelines.
- Availability for a minimum of either 2 full days per week or specific morning and afternoon shifts.
- A passion for working with children and delivering quality play-based learning experiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with families, staff, and volunteers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 kg (44 lbs.), and engage in physical activities.
- Willingness to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily, regardless of weather conditions.
- Early Childhood Education Diploma.
- Registered Early Childhood Educator status, or willingness to obtain registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
