Job Summary:
The Department Head - Regional Anesthesiology will be responsible for leading the Regional Anesthesiology Department at Eagle Ridge Hospital (ERH). This role will involve overseeing the department's activities, ensuring alignment with Fraser Health's objectives, and fostering effective communication between the Regional Department and its members practicing at the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Operations Committee Participation: The Department Head will participate in the Site Operations Committee or equivalent for the Facility, ensuring that the department's activities are aligned with the facility's objectives.
- Communication and Coordination: The Department Head will function as the channel of communication to and from the Regional Department, keeping members practicing within the Facility informed regarding Fraser Health, HAMAC, and Departmental objectives, policies, and general activities.
- Practitioner Appointment and Membership: In collaboration with the Regional Department Head, the Department Head will recommend appointment of practitioners, renewal of Medical Staff membership, and privileges.
- Program Coordination: The Department Head will ensure that the requirements of programs operating within the Facility are coordinated.
- Complaint Investigation: The Department Head will investigate and document complaints regarding care provided by Members within the Department at the Facility under the direction of the appropriate Regional Department Head and/or Site Medical Director where appropriate.
- Human Resource Requirements: The Department Head will review with the Regional Department Head the human resource requirements of the Regional Department practicing within the Facility.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will be an Active Staff Member, unless the candidate is a practitioner recruited specifically for the role, in which case the candidate would be appointed to the Provisional category of the Medical Staff until such time as the practitioner is eligible for promotion to the Active category.
