The Senior Project Manager plays a crucial role at TESC Contracting Company Ltd. by effectively overseeing significant projects and guiding project teams. This position requires providing mentorship and specialized knowledge across the organization, while fostering positive relationships with clients and industry stakeholders to enhance TESC's growth and sustainability.

As a key leader, the Senior Project Manager is responsible for cultivating a high-performance culture characterized by collaboration and ongoing improvement. This is achieved by exemplifying TESC's core attributes, including expertise, service orientation, teamwork, quality of work, and effective communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs multi-disciplinary teams and manages various projects.
  • Ensures adherence to TESC's policies and procedures throughout all project tasks.
  • Utilizes trade expertise to engage in pre-construction processes, including contract reviews, scope determination, planning, and estimating prior to project execution.
  • Facilitates estimating turnover meetings and leads project kick-off meetings with team members, including project coordinators and safety personnel.
  • Evaluates the Foreman's labor plan against the estimated budget and formulates the final budget for labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Collaborates with internal departments and trade unions to ensure projects are adequately resourced.
  • Partners with the Planner/Scheduler to develop project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), maintain schedules, and provide progress updates to stakeholders as necessary.
  • Accountable for the overall success of projects, including health and safety, quality, cost management, and scheduling.
  • Prepares monthly financial forecasts and Work In Progress (WIP) reports, leading cost review meetings.
  • Participates in client and construction meetings as needed, relaying information to the project team, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Identifies, monitors, and reports potential issues and risks related to project objectives, offering solutions to mitigate or eliminate them.
  • Recognizes scope changes and initiates the change management process promptly, keeping clients and senior management informed of all implications.
  • Encourages a culture of continuous improvement in safety performance and quality by exceeding minimum legislative requirements and identifying enhancement opportunities.
  • Ensures compliance with incident management investigation policies and procedures across all projects, maintaining quality control throughout project activities.
  • Finalizes project closure by ensuring all client requirements are met, securing final payments, and submitting Lessons Learned documentation as required.
  • Provides leadership, mentorship, and coaching to team members, Project Coordinators, and Project Managers, along with specialized expertise to colleagues.
  • Assesses team performance, offers constructive feedback, and engages in development plans as part of TESC's Performance Management Program.

Job Specifications:

  • 20 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably in the industrial sector.
  • 15 years of experience in a project management or leadership capacity within the construction field.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in construction management, project management, engineering, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to understand construction costs and budget frameworks.
  • Proven track record of building and leading successful teams, effectively motivating individuals, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and subcontractors.
  • Exceptional management skills with the ability to influence, engage, and delegate appropriately.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the construction management process, including pre-construction, construction, and project closeout, with the capability to execute complex or specialized projects.
  • Ability to prioritize competing issues, project needs, and organizational matters while making informed judgments as a member of executive management.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving abilities, including negotiation and crisis management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and knowledgeable in scheduling software such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
  • Valid driver's license with the capacity to travel as necessary (with a clean driving record).
  • Willingness to work extended and irregular hours during project shutdowns and construction phases.
