The Senior Project Manager plays a crucial role within TESC Contracting Company Ltd. by effectively overseeing significant projects and guiding project teams. This position is essential for fostering mentorship and providing specialized knowledge throughout the organization, thereby contributing to TESC's advancement and sustainability through strong relationships with clients and industry stakeholders.

As a key leader at TESC, the Senior Project Manager fosters an environment of high performance, teamwork, and ongoing enhancement by exemplifying TESC's core attributes, which include expertise, service orientation, collaboration, quality output, and effective communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs multi-disciplinary teams and projects.
  • Ensures compliance with all established TESC policies and procedures throughout project execution.
  • Utilizes trade expertise to assist in pre-construction efforts, including contract reviews, scope determination, planning, and estimating prior to project initiation.
  • Participates in estimating meetings and leads project kick-off discussions with team members (including project coordinators, health and safety, quality assurance, and procurement).
  • Assesses the Foreman's labor plan against the estimated budget and formulates the final budget for labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Guarantees that projects are adequately resourced by collaborating with internal departments and trade unions.
  • Partners with the Planner/Scheduler to create project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), develop and maintain schedules, and provide stakeholders with necessary progress updates.
  • Accountable for the overall success of projects, encompassing health and safety, quality standards, budget adherence, and scheduling.
  • Prepares monthly financial forecasts and Work In Progress (WIP) reports, facilitating cost review meetings.
  • Attends client and construction meetings as necessary, ensuring effective communication of information to the project team, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Identifies, monitors, and communicates potential issues and risks related to project objectives, milestones, and performance, proposing solutions to mitigate or eliminate these risks.
  • Recognizes scope changes and initiates the change management process promptly, keeping clients and senior management informed of all implications.
  • Encourages a culture of continuous improvement in safety performance and quality by exceeding minimum legislative requirements, identifying improvement opportunities, and making recommendations to the management team.
  • Ensures compliance with incident management investigation policies and procedures across all projects, maintaining quality control throughout all project activities.
  • Oversees the complete closure of projects by fulfilling all client requirements, securing final payments, and submitting Lessons Learned documentation as necessary.
  • Provides leadership, mentorship, and coaching to team members, Project Coordinators, and Project Managers, as well as trade-specific knowledge to colleagues across the organization.
  • Evaluates team performance, offers constructive feedback, and participates in development plans while delivering TESC's Performance Management Program as required.

Job Specifications:

  • 20 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably within the industrial sector.
  • 15 years of experience in a project management or leadership capacity within the construction field.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in construction management, project management, engineering, or a comparable combination of education and practical experience.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to understand construction costs and budget frameworks.
  • A proven track record of building and leading successful teams, effectively motivating individuals, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and subcontractors.
  • Exceptional management capabilities: ability to influence, engage, and delegate effectively.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the construction management process, including pre-construction, construction, and project closeout, with the ability to execute complex or specialized projects.
  • Ability to prioritize competing issues, project requirements, business needs, and client relations, making sound judgments as a member of executive management.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving abilities, including negotiation, conflict resolution, and crisis management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and knowledgeable in scheduling software such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel as needed (with a clean driving record).
  • Willingness to work extended and irregular hours during project shutdowns and construction phases.
