Position Overview: We are in search of a proactive and meticulous Safety Advisor to become a vital member of our team. This position is essential for supporting our safety initiatives and ensuring adherence to occupational health and safety standards. The selected candidate will be stationed at one of our locations and will play a key role in fostering a secure work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in formulating, executing, and sustaining safety policies and procedures.
  2. Conduct routine safety evaluations and inspections across various job sites.
  3. Engage in incident investigations and offer suggestions for corrective measures.
  4. Help prepare and present safety training programs.
  5. Coordinate safety orientation for new hires, ensuring comprehensive training in safety protocols.
  6. Maintain precise records of safety incidents, inspections, and training activities.
  7. Support the creation of risk assessments and safety strategies.
  8. Encourage a culture of safety awareness and ensure compliance with applicable safety legislation.
  9. Collaborate with management and staff to identify and address potential safety risks.
Qualifications:
  1. A diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  2. 1-3 years of experience in a safety-related position.
  3. Familiarity with Nova Scotia's occupational health and safety regulations.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  5. Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.
  6. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
