About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Trainer, Safety Specialist to join our team at Irving Shipbuilding. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees and contractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Deliver Safety Training Programs: Create and implement comprehensive safety training programs for employees and contractors, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Conduct New Hire Orientations: Supervise and facilitate new hire orientations, ensuring that all employees receive a thorough understanding of our safety protocols and procedures.
  • Maintain Safety Records and Reports: Accurately maintain and update safety records and reports, including training records, incident reports, and equipment certifications.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, HR, and facilities, to ensure seamless integration of safety initiatives and programs.
Requirements
  • Education: Completion of a post-secondary education (Diploma or Degree) in a relevant field, such as occupational health and safety or a related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of related experience in a safety training or health and safety role, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with employees, contractors, and stakeholders at all levels.
