About the RoleThe Nova Scotia Health Authority is inviting expressions of interest for the position of Specialty Site Lead at Aberdeen Regional Hospital within the Northern Zone. The Specialty Site Lead (Internal Medicine) reports directly to the Zone Medical Executive Director and collaborates with local medical professionals to uphold a superior standard of patient care in alignment with legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements. This role emphasizes a clinician's perspective on operational and administrative matters, prioritizing quality and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure compliance of medical staff with the governing Bylaws and Regulations of the Nova Scotia Health Authority.
- Advocate for the concerns and viewpoints of the Department's medical staff to the Zone Executive Director and/or Zone Department Head.
- Act as the Physician Lead for Emergency Preparedness initiatives.
- Facilitate management of site overcapacity challenges by serving as the primary contact for departmental medical staff.
- Maintain service continuity through effective departmental scheduling, including equitable on-call rotations and vacation management.
- Chair regular departmental meetings and participate in additional committee meetings as required.
- Engage in monitoring departmental standards, quality, and resource utilization, including necessary reporting and auditing.
- Contribute to clinical service planning for the department.
- Support respectful workplace initiatives in collaboration with the relevant Department Head.
- Participate in recruitment and retention efforts, including maintaining an updated roster of medical staff.
- Assist in onboarding processes for new hires alongside the Department Head.
- Commit to leadership development and continuous learning to enhance leadership skills.
- Lead the incident review process in collaboration with Quality and Patient Safety representatives, including family meetings as required.
- MD licensed in Nova Scotia with privileges at Nova Scotia Health.
- Demonstrated history of leadership training and development.
