Quality Assurance Supervisor

Exceldor Coopérative is in search of a Quality Assurance Supervisor for their operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Quality Assurance and Animal Welfare Officer, the ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the quality management processes for both incoming materials and finished goods. Key responsibilities include leading a team of quality technicians, implementing strategies to uphold quality and food safety standards, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, and facilitating daily operational activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to industry best practices and hygiene protocols, along with quality standards aligned with the HACCP framework.
  • Monitor and address non-conformities and complaints, ensuring prompt execution of quality controls and tracking analysis results for quarantined items.
  • Assist in daily operations, supervise product shelf-life assessments, recommend enhancements to product quality, identify critical food safety points, and uphold quality regulations to reduce contamination risks.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams during trials or new product launches, and perform validations to confirm compliance with HACCP and CFIA regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of pertinent experience in quality assurance and food safety, ideally within a federally regulated environment.
  • Experience in the meat processing or poultry industry is highly advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, GFSI, SQF standards, and meat inspection processes.
  • Comprehensive understanding of allergen management and microbiological principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, proactive problem-solving skills, and sound judgment in dynamic settings.
  • Proficient in computer applications (MS Office Suite, JDE, Kronos), with bilingual proficiency in French and English preferred; Spanish language skills are a plus.
