About the Role

As a vital member of the patient care team, the Rehabilitation Assistant operates under the guidance of the Manager and the supervision of licensed therapists. This position involves collaborating with individuals, families, and groups to foster education and promote mobility, daily activities, and overall functionality. The Rehabilitation Assistant is entrusted with the safe and effective execution of therapeutic interventions as designated by therapists for patients experiencing challenges with movement and daily tasks.

Additionally, responsibilities include the maintenance and sanitation of equipment, oversight of treatment and storage areas, and the procurement of necessary supplies. The selected candidate may be required to provide services across various sectors within the Rehabilitation Services framework.

Candidate Profile

We invite applications from individuals who possess the following qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or GED
  • Certification from a Rehabilitation Assistant Program encompassing both Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy elements
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and staff
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities and a collaborative spirit
  • Organizational skills to manage assigned tasks amidst varying staffing and caseload demands
  • Understanding of proper body mechanics
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Competency in additional languages is an asset, with preference for French
  • Reliable transportation access

Work Schedule
  • Part-time position with a long-term commitment, 50% FTE; 37.5 hours bi-weekly
  • Duration of approximately 8 months
Compensation and Benefits

The hourly wage is $25.82.

Successful candidates may qualify for a benefits package that includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan (applicable for permanent and long assignments).
