Job Summary

Scarborough Health Network is seeking a skilled Health Information Professional to join our team. As a key member of our coding and data quality team, you will be responsible for coding and abstracting patient records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coding and Abstracting: Accurately code and abstract patient records in accordance with established standards and guidelines.
  • Data Quality: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of coded data, identifying and reporting any discrepancies or errors.
  • Communication: Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely coding and abstracting of patient records.
  • Lean Principles: Apply Lean thinking principles to improve coding and data quality processes, reducing waste and improving efficiency.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certification: Successful completion of a CHIMA recognized HIM program and CHIM certification, member in good standing with CHIMA.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in NACRS ED coding required, NACRS SDC coding is an asset.
  • Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with experience using computer systems and software.
