Swine Barn Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Swine Barn Manager to join our team at HyLife. As a key member of our livestock production team, you will be responsible for managing the overall barn and yard site, ensuring the health and well-being of our animals, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage overall barn and yard site, including staff supervision, delegation of duties, and performance of coaching plans
  • Order feed and carry out feeding programs to optimize animal growth and health
  • Select, sort, and load pigs for transport, ensuring timely and efficient movement
  • Prep rooms for barn wash and animal entry, maintaining a clean and hygienic environment
  • Receive pigs, inspecting for health and quality
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks to ensure equipment and facilities are in good working order
  • Perform general on-farm duties, including animal care and handling
  • Recognize and treat livestock health issues, working closely with veterinarians and other experts
  • Maintain accurate livestock performance records, tracking growth and health metrics
  • Carry out feeding and vaccination programs, ensuring compliance with company protocols
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

  • Valid Class 5 Driver License
  • Self-motivated and well-organized, with a strong work ethic
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with others
  • Minimum 2-year swine tech experience, with a strong understanding of animal husbandry and production practices
