Heavy Equipment Technician (Foreman)

We are currently seeking a permanent, full-time Heavy Equipment Technician (Foreman). This position is essential for overseeing the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and preventative maintenance of commercial transport vehicles. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Mechanical and Maintenance Duties

  • Conduct inspections on operational motors, perform road tests, and utilize diagnostic tools to identify and isolate faults.
  • Diagnose issues during preventative maintenance services.
  • Repair or replace components of commercial transport truck systems, including chassis, engines, and electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to review work orders and confirm repairs.
  • Execute scheduled maintenance tasks, including oil changes and tune-ups.
  • Work with various engine types and equipment.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Mentor and supervise team members to enhance work quality and efficiency.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating maintenance activities with the Fleet Maintenance Planner.
  • Participate in monthly safety meetings to promote communication and safety protocols.
  • Engage in recruitment and performance management processes.
  • Foster a respectful and positive workplace culture.
  • Adhere to company policies and the Code of Conduct.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Alberta Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic Certificate or equivalent.
  • 6-8 years of experience in commercial transport vehicle repairs.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role is advantageous.
  • Proficient in diagnosing faults using manufacturer software.
  • Ability to interpret technical diagrams and manuals.
  • Valid Class 3 Driver's License and Alberta Commercial Vehicle Safety Inspection License are beneficial.
  • Physical capability to handle equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work in various environmental conditions.
